Scope

GB/T 34007-2017 is the English-translated version of 道路车辆 制动衬片摩擦材料 摩擦性能拖曳试验方法.

GB/T 34007-2017 is the Chinese national drag test method for the friction performance of road vehicle brake lining friction materials. It sets the test equipment, the test type and test device, the test procedures and the report of results.

The equipment must run a pre-set programme under automatic control and record the parameters continuously; cooling is by air not warmer than 25 degrees Celsius blown onto the brake at (600 plus or minus 60) cubic metres per hour, the main shaft turns at (660 plus or minus 10) r/min when idling and not below 600 r/min at full load, the brake disc runout is not more than 0.08 mm, and the disc temperature is measured with an embedded thermocouple installed to QC/T 556.

A braking cycle is a series of runs of 5 s braking and 10 s idling, controlled either at constant pressure or at constant torque.

Tests are run on the original-size specimen or on a sample block: for M1, M2, N1, O1, O2 and L vehicles the sampling test uses a fixed disc caliper of 36 mm piston diameter with the block centre 116.5 mm from the disc centre, and for M3, N2, N3, O3 and O4 vehicles a 60 mm piston at 108 mm.

The friction surface is loaded at 75 N per square centimetre, with a line pressure of 0.89 MPa in the first case and 1.17 MPa in the second; the disc is dressed with P240 or finer abrasive paper to JB/T 7498 before each test, the lining is run in to at least 80 % contact, and thickness and mass are measured to 0.01 mm and 0.01 g before and after.

The working, minimum and maximum friction coefficients are collected as the standard prescribes, and the report gives the basic information, the test parameters, the coefficients, the thickness and weight wear and the surface condition.

Terms come from GB/T 5620 and GB/T 15089. Issued on 12 July 2017, it has applied since 1 June 2018.
