Scope
GB/T 33705-2017 is the English-translated version of 土壤水分观测 频域反射法.
GB/T 33705-2017 covers the observation of soil moisture by the frequency domain reflection method. It fixes the principle and the observation items, the requirements for the site, the requirements for the instrument and the observing steps to be followed.
It defines the quantities reported - volumetric soil moisture content, gravimetric soil moisture content and relative soil humidity, each expressed as a percentage - and takes those definitions from SL 364-2006.
Normative Annex A sets the instrument performance and normative Annex B the calculation formulae for the factors involved. It applies to the construction, operation and maintenance of automatic soil moisture observing stations of the frequency domain reflection type, and cites GB/T 18185, QX 4-2015 and SL 364-2006. Issued on 12 May 2017, it has applied since 1 December 2017.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the use of frequency domain reflection method to observe the soil moisture observation items, site requirements, instrument requirements, observation steps.
This standard is applicable to the construction, operation and maintenance of soil moisture automatic observation station in frequency domain reflection.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Frequency domain reflector method

3.2 Soil moisture

3.3 Soil volume moisture content

3.4 Soil weight moisture content
