Scope
GB/T 33694-2017 is the English-translated version of 自动气候站观测规范.
GB/T 33694-2017 sets the basic requirements and the observing practice for automatic climatological stations making ground climate observations. Clause 4 fixes the observation programme, the time system and the definition of the day, clock setting, the observing duties, the station site and the metadata to be kept.
Clause 5 covers the measurement performance required, instrument layout and installation, maintenance and verification, sampling and algorithms, and data quality control; clause 6 sets out the data files, with station basic information, element observations and quality control information.
The sampling algorithms are in normative Annex A and the quality control methods in normative Annex B. It cites GB 31221-2014, QX 4-2015, QX/T 45-2007 and QX/T 118-2010. Issued on 12 May 2017, it has applied since 1 December 2017.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic requirements and observations of automatic climate station observations.
This standard applies to automatic climate stations for ground climate observations.

3 Terms and definitions
QX/T 45-2007 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document. For ease of use, the following is repeated Some terms and definitions in QX/T 45-2007.
3.1 Climate
Indicating that the long-term average state of the atmospheric physical characteristics of a region on Earth is a comprehensive manifestation of the various weather processes during that period.
Note: The statistics of meteorological elements such as temperature, precipitation and radiation are the basic basis for expressing climate.
3.2 Automatic climate station
High-precision, high-stability automatic observation instrument for ground climate observation.
3.3 Metadata
Is "data about data". That is, data about data content, quality, conditions and other characteristics of the data, the basic function of the data description. [QX/T 45-2007, definition 3.22]
4 Basic requirements
4.1 Observations
