Scope

GB/T 33488.3-2017 is the English-translated version of 化工用塑料焊接制承压设备检验方法 第3部分:射线检测.

GB/T 33488.3-2017 is Part 3 of GB/T 33488 and sets out how welded joints in thermoplastic pressure equipment for the chemical industry are examined radiographically.

It applies to pipe and sheet of polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, ABS and modified PTFE joined by hot gas welding, extrusion welding, hot plate welding or heat fusion welding, in pressure vessels and pressure piping.

It gives the general requirements on personnel, organisation, environmental conditions and equipment, the technique classification, the preparation of the examination - exposure arrangement, surface treatment, marking, film overlap and image quality indicators - and the exposure itself, from tube voltage and film system to beam adjustment, number of exposures, film processing and viewing.

It also fixes the quality classification of welds and the contents of the test report. Issued on 28 February 2017, it has applied since 1 September 2017.

Foreword

GB/T 33488 "Chemical plastic welding system with pressure equipment inspection method" is divided into four parts.

- Part 1: General;

Part 2: Appearance inspection;

Part 3: Ray detection;

- Part 4: Ultrasonic testing.

This part is part 3 of GB/T 33488.

This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 33488 specifies the general requirements for the method of radiographic testing of plastic welding equipment for chemical industry, technical classification, inspection Preparation, adoption and inspection report.

This part is suitable for use with polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic (ABS) and Modified PTFE (PTFE) and other thermoplastic pipe or sheet, and the use of hot air welding, extrusion welding, welding and hot melt welding process welding Of the pressure vessel and the pressure pipe welding joints of the radiation detection.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Nominal thickness

The nominal thickness of the weld metal base of the weld, which does not require manufacturing tolerances.

3.2 Penetrated thickness

Radiation beam through the material through the nominal thickness, multi-layer irradiation for the beam through the layers of materials, the sum of the nominal thickness.

3.3 Weld surface to film distance

The distance between the radiating side surface of the subject and the film is measured along the centerline of the beam.
