1 Scope

This standard specifies the method of measuring the retardation of the cellulose triacetate (TAC) film by rotating photon method, including the determination of the retardation of the surface phase

And the thickness of the two parts of the delay.

This standard is applicable to the triacetate cellulose ester (TAC) film produced by the casting process.

2 terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

2.1 Strain

The deformation of the unit length is divided into the permanent plastic strain introduced in the manufacturing process and the elastic strain in the presence of stress.

Strain will produce strain birefringence and phase delay.

2.2 Optical axis azimuthal aperture

Twist angle

The sample main strain slows the direction of the slow axis with the sample TD (the direction of the film on the manufacturing equipment is called the MD direction, perpendicular to the direction of the MD Called the TD direction, that is, the transverse direction of the web).

2.3 Delay retardation

Relative delay amount

The distance between the two waves after the light passes through the birefringent material.

2.4 Surface retardation

Re

Due to the anisotropy of the refractive index in the XY direction of the film, the amount of retardation generated.

2.5 Thickness retardation

Rth

The amount of retardation generated due to the anisotropy of the refractive index in the XY direction and the refractive index in the externally externally Z direction.

3 test equipment

3.1 micrometer or thickness gauge

The micrometer or thickness meter to be used shall meet one of the following conditions. Test absolute accuracy >=1µm or relative accuracy >=1%.
