This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaces GB/T 3328-1997 "Furniture - Main sizes of beds". 1 Scope

China's national standard for the principal dimensions of beds. It specifies the terms and definitions, the codes and the main sizes, and it applies to the design and production of beds. It replaces GB/T 3328-1997. The changes are instructive: the definition of bed top is deleted and a definition of bed base added, the main size diagrams for single beds and bunk beds are revised, and the dimensional ranges are widened throughout - the single bed base length becomes 1900 mm to 2220 mm for an inlaid mattress and 1900 mm to 2200 mm otherwise, the single bed base width 700 mm to 1200 mm, and the bunk bed base length 1900 mm to 2020 mm with a width of 800 mm to 1520 mm. The bed base height range for a bed with a mattress laid on it is deleted and the range without a mattress becomes not more than 450 mm. A note is added stating that where there are special or contractual requirements, all sizes may be agreed between supplier and purchaser and are not subject to these limits. The shift from bed top to bed base is the substantive change. A bed used to be specified by its surface; it is now specified by the platform the mattress sits on, because the mattress is bought separately, comes in a standardised size, and is what the sleeper actually lies on. That makes the base an interface dimension between two products from different industries. Issued on 13 December 2016 and in force since 1 July 2017.

This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, codes, main sizes of beds. This Standard is applicable to the design and production of single beds and bunk beds. Other beds may refer to this Standard for implementation.
