GB/T 32934-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the Chinese name a typhoon carries in forecasts and warnings — the naming rules for the northwest Pacific and the South China Sea, the Chinese renderings for the other basins from the northeast Pacific and the north Atlantic to the north Indian Ocean and the waters near Australia, the division of the monitoring areas, and the replacement, rotation and cancellation of a name once a storm has made it notorious. It replaces GB/T 32934-2016, under the China Meteorological Administration. In force from 1 August 2025. Issued on 25 April 2025, it has been in force since 1 August 2025, replacing GB/T 32934-2016.
