Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 32759-2016 "Live Quality Assessment of Lean-Type Pigs". Compared with GB/T 32759-2016, except for structural adjustments... Aside from integration and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The definitions of the terms "lean-type pig," "live weight," and "live backfat thickness" have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the.2016 edition);

b) The "Requirements" section has been removed (see Chapter 4 in the.2016 edition);

c) The "Detection Time" has been changed (see 5.2,

6.2 in the.2016 version);

d) The "Re-inspection Conditions," "Re-inspection Samples," and "Result Judgment" have been modified (see 6.1, 6.2, 6.3; 7.1, 7.3,

7.4 in the.2016 version);

e) The "valid period for re-inspection" has been removed (see section

7.2 of the.2016 version);

f) The error requirements for "live weight" and "live back fat thickness" have been removed, as have the "evaluation principles" (see sections 8.1, 8.2, and

8.3.1 of the.2016 version);

g) The weight and backfat ranges for "Sample Individual Classification" have been changed (see 7.1,

1 Scope

GB/T 32759-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering assessing a pig before it is slaughtered - the live weight, the backfat measured ultrasonically, the loin depth and the conformation, from which the carcass yield and the price are predicted. It replaces GB/T 32759-2016 and has been in force since 1 October 2026. It was issued on 31 March 2026 and takes effect on 1 October 2026, replacing GB/T 32759-2016. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This document specifies the sampling, testing, retesting, and quality assessment of lean-type pigs. This document applies to the live quality assessment and grading of lean-type pigs before they are marketed.

4 Sampling

4.1 Sampling size The sampling size should be determined based on the number of pigs in the same batch, with a minimum of 5 pigs. When the number of pigs in the herd is less than 100, sampling... The sampling rate should be no less than 5%; when the number of pigs in the herd is 100 to 300, the sampling rate should be no less than 4%; when the number of pigs in the herd is greater than 300, the sampling rate should be... The sample size should be no less than 3%.

4.2 Sampling Method Samples are drawn using random sampling.

5 Testing

5.1 Testing Items Live weight, live back fat thickness.

5.2 Detection Time The sampling should be conducted immediately after completion, and all testing should be completed before the transaction.

5.3 Detection Methods Live weight shall be in accordance with GB/T 45554, and live back fat thickness shall be in accordance with NY/T 2894.

6 Re-inspection

6.1 Re-inspection conditions A re-examination should be conducted immediately if any of the following conditions occur, with a maximum of one re-examination.

---When abnormalities occur in data, conditions, or equipment during the inspection of samples from the same batch;

---When one data point in the same batch of samples is at the non-compliance threshold;

---When the person being investigated raises an objection.

6.2 Re-inspection samples The retested samples are only for the original samples.

7 Quality Assessment

7.1 Sample Individuals Quality assessment is conducted based on the live weight and live backfat thickness of the sampled animals, and is divided into three levels. Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, in accordance with the provisions of Table 1.

7.2 Groups After grading the sampled individuals, the percentages of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 individuals out of the total sample are calculated to classify the pig herd. The formulas are shown in equations (1), (2), and (3), and the calculation results are rounded to two decimal places. See Appendix A for an example. GB/T 32759-2026.
