1 Scope
GB/T 32455-2024 is the Chinese terminology of space transportation systems: launch vehicles and everything that flies them. It is the vocabulary the Chinese space programme is documented in, and it covers the field in seven subject clauses, general terms, the system level, structural systems, mechanisms and pyrotechnic devices, propulsion, electrical systems, launch support systems, and assembly, test and launch operations, closing with an index. Terminology in this field is not decorative: a launch vehicle is built by dozens of institutes and contractors whose interfaces are defined in documents, and the terms in those documents have to mean one thing. For a supplier into the Chinese space sector, an analyst reading Chinese launch documentation, or a translator working on it, this is the reference vocabulary. The 2024 edition replaces GB/T 32455-2015.
This document defines the general, overall, structural systems, mechanisms and pyrotechnics, power systems, electrical systems, launch support Terms and definitions for support systems, assembly, testing, and launch processes. This document applies to the design, production, testing and launch of space transportation systems.

Note. Includes disposable launch vehicles, orbital transfer vehicles, reusable launch vehicles, etc.
3.2 rocket An aircraft that carries its own propellant and generates thrust directly by the reaction principle.
3.3 launch vehicle; LV Vehicle A rocket that sends a payload into space orbit from the Earth's surface or air, or a rocket that changes the payload's orbit.
3.4 Disposable carrier A launch vehicle/carrier that can only perform one launch mission.
Note. After separation from the payload, it is usually destroyed during re-entry into the atmosphere.
3.5 Reusable Launch Vehicle A launch vehicle/vehicle that can be used multiple times.
Note. Generally, they can be divided into partially reusable launch vehicles/vehicles and fully reusable launch vehicles/vehicles.
3.6 Upper stage A relatively independent stage (or stages) added to a launch vehicle. After the launch vehicle is launched into a quasi-Earth orbit or Earth orbit,
