Scope

GB/T 31057.3-2018 is the English-translated version of 颗粒材料 物理性能测试 第3部分:流动性指数的测量.

GB/T 31057.3-2018 is the Chinese national method for measuring the fluidity (flowability) index of granular materials.

It gives the terms and definitions used, among them fluidity index, spatula angle, angle of repose, compressibility and uniformity, together with the measuring instruments, the test method, how the results are presented and what the test report must contain.

One informative annex provides a fluidity index table and another covers the Jenike shear test. The method applies to powder materials with an average particle size from 5 µm to 5 mm.

It is Part 3 of GB/T 31057, whose Parts 1 and 2 deal with the measurement of bulk density and tap density. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword

GB/T 31057 "Physical Properties Testing of Granular Materials" is divided into three parts.

--- Part 1. Measurement of bulk density;

--- Part 2. Measurement of tap density;

--- Part 3. Measurement of the liquidity index.

This part is the third part of GB/T 31057.

This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 31057 specifies the terms, definitions, measuring instruments and test methods for the flowability index of granular materials.

This section applies to the measurement of the fluidity index of powder materials with an average particle size of 5µm~5mm.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 16418 apply to this document.

3.1 Liquidity index

Considering the factors affecting the fluidity of the powder, the parameters used to determine the fluidity of the powder. [GB/T 16418-2008, definition 2.2.5.3]

3.2 Spatula angle

Lifting the plate buried in the powder up vertically, the angle between the free surface (bevel) attached to the vertical plate and the plate The average value of the angle after being subjected to vibration, also called the plate angle.

3.3 Angle of repose

The maximum angle formed by the free surface of the powder accumulation layer with the horizontal plane in a static equilibrium state, also called the angle of repose. [GB/T 16418-2008, definition 2.2.5.4]

3.4 Compressibility

The ability of the powder to be compressed is expressed by the compression ratio obtained under certain test conditions. [GB/T 16418-2008, definition 2.2.5.12]

3.5 Uniformity

The width of the particle size distribution of the particulate material.
