GB/T 31057.2-2018 is the English-translated version of 颗粒材料 物理性能测试 第2部分：振实密度的测量.
GB/T 31057.2-2018 gives the Chinese method for measuring the tap density of granular materials, that is the mass per unit volume of a powder after it has been vibrated under specified conditions.
It applies to powders with an average particle size from 5 µm to 5 mm. A known quantity of powder is placed in a container and tapped, then its mass and volume are measured and the tap density is calculated, either by the fixed mass method or by the fixed volume method.
It describes the measuring device, with 25 mL and 100 mL graduated cylinders and a combination cylinder, sample preparation, the measurement steps, the calculation, uncertainty and the test report, with informative annexes on the number of vibrations for some powders. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 31057 "Physical Properties Testing of Granular Materials" is divided into three parts.
--- Part 1. Measurement of bulk density;
--- Part 2. Measurement of tap density;
--- Part 3. Measurement of the liquidity index.
This part is the second part of GB/T 31057.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 31057 specifies the terms, definitions and test methods for the tap density test of granular materials.
This section applies to the tap density measurement of powder materials with an average particle size of 5µm~5mm.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Tap density
The mass per unit volume measured after the powder has been vibrated under specified conditions.
3.2 Fixed mass method
Weigh a certain amount of powder, measure its volume after tapping, and calculate the tap density.
3.3 Fixed volume method
After the powder is shaken, a certain volume is taken, the mass is weighed, and the tap density is obtained by calculation.
4 Principle
The quantitative powder is placed in a container, and after vibrating under predetermined conditions, the powder mass and volume are measured, and the tap density of the powder is calculated.
5 Measuring device
5.1 Measuring cylinder
Two calibrated transparent cylinders with three-sided graduations of 25 mL and 100 mL were used. 25mL measuring cylinder minimum score The degree is 0.5mL, the capacity tolerance is ±0.25mL; the minimum index of 100mL cylinder is 1.0mL, and the capacity tolerance is ±0.50mL.
Note: For special scarce samples, a calibrated graduated cylinder with a volume of 10 mL (minimum index of 0.2 mL and a capacity tolerance of 0.10 mL) is available.
5.2 Combination measuring cylinder
The combined cylinder consists of an upper sleeve and a calibrated fixed volume cylinder.
