This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 28791-2012 "Railway Vehicle Marking". Compared with GB/T 28791-2012, except for structural adjustment and editing, In addition to the changes in performance, the main technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope

China's national standard for the signs applied to railway vehicles and multiple units. It specifies the terms and definitions, the classification, the general requirements, the material and construction requirements and the placement of the signs and markings carried on rolling stock. A railway vehicle is covered in writing, and almost none of it is decoration. There are the identification markings - the vehicle number, the owner, the type, the tare and load, the wheelbase and the dates of the last examinations - which are how a vehicle is identified in a yard, in a train list and in a maintenance record. There are the operating markings that tell a shunter or a driver what the vehicle can do: the brake type, the coupling, the maximum speed, the route availability. There are the safety signs that warn of electric shock, of moving parts, of the pantograph clearance, and that mark the emergency exits, the emergency brake and the equipment a rescuer needs to find in the dark. And there are the passenger-facing signs inside a multiple unit. Every one of them has to be legible after fifteen years outdoors on a vehicle washed with detergent at speed, and none may fall off. The 2024 revision reflects that. It adds terms and definitions for the signs themselves, revises the classification, and adds three sets of requirements the 2012 edition did not carry: general requirements for marking, appearance and surface requirements, and requirements for safety signs specifically. It adds material requirements for markings applied in places where there is an electric shock hazard, and a whole chapter on where signs are to be placed. Issued on 15 March 2024 and in force since 1 July 2024, it replaces GB/T 28791-2012.

This document specifies the marking classification, basic requirements, manufacturing requirements and installation requirements for railway passenger cars, freight cars and EMU markings. This document is applicable to passenger service signs and work management signs for railway passenger cars, freight cars and EMUs. Other rail transit vehicles can refer to this document. use.
