Scope

GB/T 28705-2026 is the English-translated version of 无损检测铁磁性金属部件脉冲涡流检测.

This standard covers pulsed eddy current testing of ferromagnetic metallic components, a non-destructive technique in which a pulsed excitation is used to examine metal parts without damaging them. It is useful to inspection companies, plant owners, and quality and maintenance engineers who assess components such as pipes, vessels and structural parts made of ferromagnetic material, and to the personnel who qualify those inspection procedures.

It adopts an international standard and replaces GB/T 28705-2012. It was issued on 28 September 2026 and takes effect on 1 April 2027. As a recommended national standard it is voluntary in principle, although inspection contracts and company procedures frequently cite such methods. Teams that carry out condition assessment of metallic assets in China, or that need their testing practice to match current Chinese standards, can use it as the reference for this particular method. Pulsed eddy current is often chosen where access is limited or insulation covers the surface, so a common reference helps owners and contractors agree on how results are produced.
