Scope
GB/T 26958.71-2022 is the English-translated version of 产品几何技术规范(GPS) 滤波 第71部分:稳健区域滤波器 高斯回归滤波器.
GB/T 26958.71-2022 is the part of the GB/T 26958 filtration series that covers robust areal Gaussian regression filters, the tools used to separate the long-wave and short-wave components of a measured surface. Two are set out: the robust planar Gaussian regression filter and the robust cylindrical one, so that the same treatment applies whether the measured area is nominally flat or wrapped around an axis. Worked examples are given in an annex, together with the position these filters occupy in the filtration matrix model and in the general GPS matrix model, which is how a user finds the filter that belongs with a given surface parameter. The reason for the robust form is the way an ordinary Gaussian filter behaves on real surfaces. A deep valley, a pore, a scratch or a plateau left by honing pulls the fitted mean surface towards itself, so the reference surface bends into the very features being measured and the roughness values computed from it come out wrong — the same part is then judged differently depending on where it happened to be measured. A robust regression fit resists that pull. Written for metrology laboratories, instrument and software suppliers implementing areal surface texture analysis, and engineers who put surface specifications on drawings.

1 Scope
This document specifies robust area Gaussian filters, specifying in particular how to separate the long-wave and short-wave components of a surface.
This document is intended for use in the evaluation of surfaces that may contain peaked discontinuities, deep valleys, and peak features.
