Scope

GB/T 26525-2022 is the English-translated version of 精制氯化钴.

GB/T 26525-2022 is the Chinese national standard for refined cobaltous chloride, CoCl2·6H2O, the red to purple-red crystalline salt used in electroplating and in the battery, catalyst and pharmaceutical raw material industries. It sets the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, labelling, packaging, transport and storage of a product that is listed in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals (2015 edition). Two grades are defined, superior and first. The cobalt content shall be not less than 24.2 % for the superior grade and 24.0 % for the first grade; the limits on the impurity metals — nickel, zinc, iron, copper, manganese, chromium, cadmium, magnesium, calcium, aluminium, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, lithium, sodium, lead and mercury — run from 0.0005 % to 0.010 %, water-insoluble matter is capped at 0.0100 % and 0.0200 %, oil at 0.0010 % and 0.0020 %, and magnetic foreign matter at 50 µg/kg and 70 µg/kg. This first revision of the 2011 edition adds potentiometric titration for cobalt, adds indexes and test methods for aluminium, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, lithium, sodium and magnetic foreign matter, and moves the impurity metals to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. In force since 1 November 2022.

Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 “Directives for standardization — Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents”.

This document replaces GB/T 26525-2011 “Refined cobaltous chloride”. Compared with GB/T 26525-2011, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

— changed the indexes for the cobalt content, the water-insoluble matter content, the oil content and the content of ten impurity metal ions such as nickel (see 5.2; 4.2 of the 2011 edition);

— added the potentiometric titration method to the determination of the cobalt content (see 6.3.1);

— added the indexes and the test methods for the content of aluminium, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, lithium, sodium and magnetic foreign matter (see 5.2, 6.4);

— changed the test method for the impurity metal ions to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (see 6.4; 5.5, 5.6, 5.7 and 5.9 of the 2011 edition).
