Scope

GB/T 25648-2010 is the English-translated version of 道路施工与养护机械设备 稳定土拌和机.

China's national standard for soil stabilisers used in road construction and maintenance. It specifies the terms and definitions, the types and basic parameters, the technical requirements, the test methods and the inspection rules for soil stabilising machines. A soil stabiliser is a self-propelled machine with a rotor that cuts down into the existing ground or a placed layer, pulverises it, and mixes it with a binder - cement, lime, fly ash or bitumen emulsion - to convert a material that is not good enough into one that is. That single capability changes the economics of a road. Without it, a subgrade of unsuitable soil is excavated and carted away and replaced with imported aggregate, which is expensive in haulage, in landfill and in the traffic it generates; with it, the existing material stays where it is and is improved in place. The same machine does full-depth reclamation, pulverising an old asphalt pavement together with its base and stabilising the mixture into a new base - which recycles the entire road rather than removing it. What determines whether the treated material performs is the uniformity of the mixing and the accuracy of the binder dosage, and both are properties of the machine. So the standard specifies the rotor and its cutting depth and speed, the mixing chamber and how the material is retained in it, the binder metering system and its control, which must vary with the machine's forward speed to hold the dose per unit area, the traction and the depth control, and the performance measures of mixing uniformity and depth consistency. The safety requirements matter because the machine works with a large exposed rotor and in a dusty binder environment. Issued on 1 December 2010 and in force since 1 March 2011.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the road construction and maintenance machinery and equipment stabilized soil mixing machine (hereinafter referred to as stable mixing machine) terms and definitions, classifications, technical Operation requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, instructions, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to tire stabilized soil mixing machine and tracked stabilized soil mixing machine.
