Scope
GB/T 25217.5-2019 is the English-translated version of 冲击地压测定、监测与防治方法 第5部分:地音监测方法.
GB/T 25217.5-2019 is the Chinese national method for watching rock-burst hazard in coal mines through earth-sound, the micro-vibration released as coal and rock are loaded.
It is Part 5 of GB/T 25217, a series of fourteen parts on the measurement, monitoring and prevention of rock burst; it fixes the terms used in earth-sound monitoring - the event itself, its frequency and its energy, the geophone sensor, the signal amplifier and the ground central station - then the monitoring equipment and its main technical parameters, the installation requirements, the processing of the data and the methods for assessing the hazard.
It applies to rock-burst and earth-sound monitoring in coal mines, and cites GB 3836 and GB/T 4208 for the explosion protection and enclosure rating of the instruments. It was issued on 18 October 2019 and has applied since 1 May 2020.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Earth-sound
The micro-vibration information generated during the loading process of coal and rock mass is generally less than 100J and the frequency is greater than 150Hz.
3.2 Frequency of earth-sound
The number of geophone events generated by coal and rock mass per unit time within a certain spatial range.
3.3 Earth-sound energy
The energy release value of a geophone event generated per unit time within a certain spatial range.
3.4 Earth-sound sensor
A device for receiving a downhole ground signal.
3.5 Signal amplifier
A device for receiving a ground signal received by a geophone, and then transmitting the signal to a ground center station.
3.6 Ground center station
A device for receiving a ground signal transmitted by a downhole signal amplifier and performing data storage and processing.
4 Geophone monitoring equipment, technical parameters and solutions
4.1 Geophone monitoring equipment and main technical parameters
The ground sound monitor should comply with the relevant provisions of GB 3836 and GB/T 4208.
