The classification and coding standards of coal industry materials are the cornerstones for the development of smart mines, big data, and product traceability, and are of great significance to the integration of industrialization and information technology and digitalization of enterprises. Therefore, combined with the current characteristics of coal industry enterprises, we re-sorted out the application of material data in coal industry enterprises. The current situation, the establishment of a unified material standardization system, serving the production, transportation, and sales of coal enterprises, can achieve high-quality integration of coal production data resources. 1 Scope

NB/T 11629-2024 is the Chinese specification that gives every material used in the coal industry a single unique code. It exists because a large mining group buys hundreds of thousands of distinct items across dozens of sites, and until they share one naming scheme nobody can answer the two questions that decide procurement: what do we actually have in stock across the group, and what are we really paying for the same thing at different mines. The same bearing sits in one warehouse under the manufacturer's part number, in another under a description typed by a storekeeper, and in a third under a legacy code from a company that was acquired; the group ends up buying an item it already owns, and pays three different prices for it. This document is the remedy, and its value is in its completeness rather than its theory. It sets the classification principles - practicality, comprehensiveness, and above all stability, since a classification that is adjusted arbitrarily destroys the history it was built to preserve - and applies the line classification method to divide materials into major, medium and minor classes, with the fineness of the minor class set so that every material ends up with exactly one code. The code itself is a hierarchical eight digit number: two digits of major class, two of medium class, four of minor class, so that major class 01, special coal winning equipment, contains medium class 0101, coal winning equipment and parts, which contains minor class 01010001, the shearer. The substance is the catalogue: thirty-eight major classes covering the whole industry, from coal winning equipment, roof support, drilling, washing and wagon loading, through safety monitoring and refuge and rescue, water and solid waste treatment, electrical and coal chemical and power generation equipment, construction materials and machinery, communications and transport, mine digitalisation and intelligent equipment and sensors, to the consumable end of the business - fuels and lubricants, steel, cable, instruments, conveyor belts, valves, pumps, explosives and radiation sources, seals, tools, labour protection and firefighting supplies, utilities and services. A hundred and ten page informative annex gives the attribute templates that define, for each class, the name, description, specification and unit of measurement fields that a material record must carry. It was issued on 24 September 2024 by the National Energy Administration and takes effect on 24 March 2025.

This document specifies the classification principles, coding methods, coding structure and material description templates for coal industry material data. This document applies to the standardized management of material classification and coding in the coal industry.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 According to different requirements of material management, materials are classified into categories according to certain signs.

3.4 According to the selected attributes or characteristics, the classification objects are subdivided level by level according to the hierarchical structure, and each level represents a classification dimension. 4 Principles of material classification

4.1 General Principles The material classification principles should meet the following requirements.

a) Practicality. It should meet the requirements of practicality, applicability and convenience in material procurement and information management.

b) Comprehensiveness. Satisfy the needs of different levels of material management.

c) Stability. Once the material classification is established, it will not be adjusted at will.
