NB/T 11629-2024 is the Chinese specification that gives every material used in the coal industry a single unique code. It exists because a large mining group buys hundreds of thousands of distinct items across dozens of sites, and until they share one naming scheme nobody can answer the two questions that decide procurement: what do we actually have in stock across the group, and what are we really paying for the same thing at different mines. The same bearing sits in one warehouse under the manufacturer's part number, in another under a description typed by a storekeeper, and in a third under a legacy code from a company that was acquired; the group ends up buying an item it already owns, and pays three different prices for it. This document is the remedy, and its value is in its completeness rather than its theory. It sets the classification principles - practicality, comprehensiveness, and above all stability, since a classification that is adjusted arbitrarily destroys the history it was built to preserve - and applies the line classification method to divide materials into major, medium and minor classes, with the fineness of the minor class set so that every material ends up with exactly one code. The code itself is a hierarchical eight digit number: two digits of major class, two of medium class, four of minor class, so that major class 01, special coal winning equipment, contains medium class 0101, coal winning equipment and parts, which contains minor class 01010001, the shearer. 3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 According to different requirements of material management, materials are classified into categories according to certain signs.

4 Principles of material classification

4.1 General Principles The material classification principles should meet the following requirements.
