Scope
GB/T 24923-2010 is the English-translated version of 普通型阀门电动装置技术条件.
China's national technical specification for standard electric valve actuators. It specifies the types and basic parameters, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of electric valve actuators of ordinary, non-explosion-protected construction. This is the companion to GB/T 24922 and covers the actuator as a machine, without the flameproof enclosure requirements - which is the great majority of them, since water treatment, power generation, district heating, HVAC and general industry have no hazardous area. What is left when the explosion protection is removed is the part that determines whether the valve works, and it is more demanding than it looks. An actuator has to develop a torque or thrust large enough to seat a valve and unseat it after it has been closed for months, and it must stop at exactly the right point: too little travel and the valve leaks, too much and the seat or the stem is destroyed. That is done by limit switches - travel switches for position and torque switches for load - and the interaction between them is the heart of the device: a rising-stem valve is normally closed on torque and opened on travel, and getting that logic wrong breaks the valve on the first stroke. The actuator must also fail safely and predictably, be operable by hand when the power is off, indicate its position locally and remotely, and survive being installed outdoors on a pipe and left for twenty years. So the standard specifies the torque and thrust ratings and their classes, the switch arrangement and its adjustment, the manual override and its interlock, the duty rating and the motor thermal protection, the position indication and the control interface, the ingress protection and the environmental conditions. Issued on 9 August 2010 and in force since 31 December 2010.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions common type valve electric device, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation And storage. This standard applies to switching valve with an ordinary electric valve actuators (hereinafter referred to as electric apparatus).
