Scope

GB/T 23844-2019 is the English-translated version of 无机化工产品中硫酸盐测定通用方法.

GB/T 23844-2019 is the Chinese national standard that gives the general methods for determining sulphate in inorganic chemical products. For each method it states the principle, the reagents or materials, the apparatus, the test procedure and the processing of the data.

Three methods are covered: visual turbidimetry, which works between 0.4 µg/mL and 4.0 µg/mL and reads the turbidity that sulphate forms in a hydrochloric acid medium against standard comparison solutions; spectrophotometry, from 1.0 µg/mL to 10.0 µg/mL; and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, down to 0.25 µg/mL, whose test conditions are set out in an annex added with this edition.

The document opens with a warning that some of the reagents used are toxic or corrosive. It cites GB/T 6682-2008, HG/T 3696.2 and HG/T 3696.3. It replaces GB/T 23844-2009, was issued on 18 October 2019 and has applied since 1 September 2020.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 23844-2009 "General method for the determination of sulfate in inorganic chemical products, visual turbidimetry".

Compared with GB/T 23844-2009, the main technical changes except editorial changes are as follows:

--- Revised the standard name, modified from "visual turbidimetric method for the determination of sulfate in inorganic chemical products" to "inorganic chemical production General method for determination of sulfate in products" (see standard name, standard name for 2009 edition);

--- Added "Spectrophotometry" and "Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry" (see Chapters 5 through 6);

--- Increased test conditions for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (see Appendix A).

1 Scope

This standard specifies the principles, reagents or materials, equipment, test procedures and tests for the general method for the determination of sulfate in inorganic chemical products. Data processing.

This standard applies to the determination of sulfate in inorganic chemical products.

Note: The range of visual turbidimetry is 0.4µg/mL~4.0µg/mL, and the spectrophotometric range is 1.0µg/mL~10.0µg/mL. Inductively coupled plasma The range of the measurement by bulk emission spectroscopy was not less than 0.25 µg/mL.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only dated versions apply to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 General regulations

The reagents and water used in this standard, unless otherwise specified, should be analytically pure or analytically pure and in accordance with the provisions of the third-grade water in GB/T 6682-2008. Standard solutions, preparations and products for the determination of impurities required in the test, when no other requirements are specified, Prepared by HG/T 3696.2 and HG/T 3696.3.

4 Visual turbidimetry

4.1 Principle

In the hydrochloric acid medium, strontium ions and sulfate ions form insoluble barium sulfate, and when the sulfate ion content is low, within a certain period of time Barium sulphate is in suspension, the solution is turbid, and the turbidity formed by the sulphate is determined by visual turbidity and the standard comparison solution.

4.2 Reagents or materials

4.2.1 Hydrochloric acid solution: 1 2.

4.2.2 Potassium Sulfate Ethanol Solution: 0.2 g/L, 0.02 g of potassium sulfate was dissolved in 100 mL of 30% ethanol solution.

4.2.3 Barium chloride solution: 250g/L.
