Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1 Scope

GB/T 23118-2024 is the Chinese performance standard for household tumble dryers and washer-dryers. Dryers were a marginal appliance in China until recently and are now one of the fastest growing categories, which is why the standard has been rewritten. It covers both the vented and condenser types and the heat pump dryers that have taken most of the growth, and it sets the requirements and the test methods for the things a buyer compares: the drying performance and the final moisture content achieved on the standard load, the energy consumption per cycle and the efficiency class it corresponds to, the cycle time, the water consumption of a condenser or washer-dryer, the condensation efficiency, the noise, the fabric care performance and the temperature the load reaches, the requirements on the programmes and on the controls, and the durability. It also sets the marking and the declared values and the tolerances against which a declaration is checked. The 2024 edition replaces GB/T 23118-2008. For an appliance maker or an importer selling into China, this is the performance text.

This document gives the product classification of tumble dryers and washer-dryers for household and similar purposes and specifies the Drying performance of all-in-one dryers, washing program-related performance and washing and drying performance of all-in-one washer-dryers, shutdown/standby power, fluffing performance, and wrinkle removal It describes the requirements for energy, classification, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage, and describes the corresponding test methods. This document applies to tumble dryers and washing machines with a rated drying capacity greater than 1 kg, used by non-professionals in households and similar places. Production, grading, inspection and sales of dry all-in-one machines, etc. This document does not apply to electric warm air dryers specified in QB/T 4504 and clothing care machines specified in QB/T 5661.
