1 Scope

GB/T 22838.2-2009 is the Chinese national standard on determination of physical characteristics for cigarettes and filter rods - part 2: length - photoelectricity method, in the field of agriculture. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 3 April 2009 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 May 2009. 3 Principle of Measurement

Use a parallel beam to conduct projection or scanning to cigarettes and filter ends, so as to form an optical signal, which is received by photoelectric receiving device AND processed by data processing system; then give out the length-value of cigarettes and filter rods. NOTE. Projection method can also be used to determine the length of cigarettes and filter rod, operation procedures.

6.3 Based on the specifications of sample, SELECT standard filter rod of corresponding length. CONDUCT calibration for the standard length of instrument.

6.4 PLACE cigarette or filter rod in the measuring position, so that the parallel- light can irradiate to the ends of cigarette or filter rod. CONDUCT the projection or scanning to the ends of cigarette or filter rod.

6.5 Based on photoelectric receiving device and data processing system, READ out the length of cigarette or filter rod.

6.6 REPEAT steps 6.4 ~ 6.5. TEST totally 30 specimens.

7 Result Expression

EXPRESS the measurement results in millimeter, accurate to 0.1mm.
