Scope
GB/T 22517.5-2024 is the English-translated version of 体育场地使用要求及检验方法 第5部分:足球场地.
GB/T 22517.5-2024 is Part 5 of the Chinese series on sports venue requirements and test methods, and covers football pitches. China has built an enormous number of pitches under the national football programme, most of them artificial, and the properties that matter are mechanical rather than visual: how much of the impact the surface returns, how far the ball rolls and how high it bounces, how much the foot rotates against the fibres, and how those change with age and with the loss of infill. The standard sets the categories, then the requirements - the pitch dimensions and markings, the performance of natural turf pitches and separately of artificial turf pitches - the inspection, covering the test conditions, the selection of on-site test points and the test methods, and the determination of conformity for each of the two surface types. It takes effect on 1 February 2025.
