1 Scope

GB/T 22330.11-2024 is the Chinese national standard on standard for specified animal disease free zone - part 11: peste des petits ruminants free zone, in the field of health care technology. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. This document specifies the infection conditions and incubation period of PRV, the basic requirements for establishing PRV-free areas, the requirements for immunization, the requirements for monitoring, requirements, as well as the conditions for establishing infection control areas when limited epidemics occur and the conditions for restoring areas free of small ruminant epidemics. This document applies to the establishment and rehabilitation of PPR-free areas.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 22330.1 apply to this document.

4 Peste des petits ruminants virus infection

Any of the following situations is considered to be a case of PPR virus infection.

a) The peste des petits ruminants virus (except vaccine strains) is isolated and identified from susceptible animals or their products;

b) Samples from susceptible animals showing clinical signs of PPR or epidemiologically linked to confirmed or suspected cases of PPR; PPR virus antigen or nucleic acid (except vaccine strain) is detected in the product;

c) From a small ruminant animal that has not undergone treatment and has clinical signs of PPR or has an epidemiological link with a confirmed or suspected case of PPR Antibodies to PPR virus were detected in samples from susceptible animals immunized with animal epidemic vaccines.

5 Incubation period

The incubation period of PPR is 21 days.

6 Basic Requirements

6.1 Comply with the basic conditions for establishing areas free from prescribed animal diseases in GB/T 22330.1.

6.2 Based on the risk, protected areas or artificial or geographical barriers may be established between adjacent PPR-infected countries or regions to effectively Prevent the introduction of peste des petits ruminants.
