Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 22285-2008 Duroc Breeding Pig. Compared with GB/T 22285-2008, except for structural adjustment and editing, In addition to the changes in performance, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) Deleted the content of "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3 of the.2008 edition);

b) Added the content of "Origin and Characteristics" (see Chapter 4);

c) Added the content of "adult weight and body size" (see Chapter 6);

d) The content of "reproductive performance" has been changed (see 7.1,

6.1 of the.2008 edition);

e) The content of "Growth and Development" has been changed (see 7.2,

6.2 of the.2008 edition);

f) The contents of "carcass traits" and "muscle quality" have been modified (see 7.3, 7.4,

1 Scope

GB/T 22285-2025 is the Chinese national standard on duroc breeding pig, in the field of agriculture. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 24 January 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 August 2025. This document specifies the origin and characteristics, body shape and appearance, adult weight and size, production performance, and basic requirements for breeding of Duroc pig breeders. The assay method is described. This document applies to the evaluation of Duroc breeder pigs.

3 Terms and definitions

There are no terms or definitions that require definition in this document.

4 Origin and characteristics

Duroc pigs are native to New York and New Jersey in the United States and are now widely distributed around the world. They have fast growth rate, high lean meat rate and Strong adaptability and other characteristics.

5.Body shape and appearance The Duroc pig has a reddish brown coat, with a few being brown, brown-gray, gray-black, etc. A few dark spots are allowed. Small, short and straight mouth, medium-sized ears, semi-erect and forward-leaning. Back waist and abdomen are straight, body is wide, hindquarters are well-developed, muscles are plump, limbs are thick and strong. Photos of Rock pig breeders are shown in Appendix A.

6 Adult weight and size

Adult boars (23-25 months old) weigh no less than 270.0 kg, are no less than 150.0 cm long, no less than

85.0 cm tall, and have a chest of 1. The circumference of an adult sow (third litter, two months of gestation) shall not be less than 147.0cm; the weight of an adult sow (third litter, two months of gestation) shall not be less than 265.0kg, the length of the sow shall not be less than 140.0cm, and the height of the sow shall not be less than 147.0cm. Less than 85.0cm, chest circumference not less than 153.0cm.
