Scope

GB/T 20979-2019 is the English-translated version of 信息安全技术 虹膜识别系统技术要求.

GB/T 20979-2019 is the Chinese information security standard that sets the technical requirements for iris recognition systems used to identify people.

It describes the structure of such a system, the function of its modules and its workflow, and then gives the functional, performance, security function and security assurance requirements at two levels, basic and enhanced.

The performance clauses cover iris image quality, error rates and sample sizes, application scenarios and non-invasive illumination; the functional clauses cover single- and dual-eye enrolment strategies, privileged users and countermeasures against forged irises.

Normative annexes list the requirements by level and the access relationships between subject and object. It applies to the design and implementation of iris recognition systems and can be consulted for their testing and management.

It replaces GB/T 20979-2007, was issued on 30 August 2019 and has applied since 1 March 2020.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 20979-2007 "Information Security Technology Iris Recognition System Technical Requirements". And GB/T 20979- Compared to 2007, the main technical changes are as follows.

--- Revised the scope description of the standard (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2007 edition);

--- Removed "Human Biometrics (see.2007 edition 3.1)" "Iris recognition mechanism (see.2007 edition 3.4)" "Iris Image Collector (see 3.6 of 2007 edition) "" Self-contained (see 3.7 of 2007 edition)" "Users (see 3.8 of 2007 edition)" "The number of comparisons (see 3.22 of 2007 edition)" "Error acceptance rate (see 3.23 of 2007 edition)" "Error rejection rate (see.2007) Terms and definitions of version 3.24)";

--- Added the terms and definitions of "Iris Image (see 3.3)";

--- Modified "Iris (see 3.1, 2007 version 3.2)" "Iris recognition (see 3.2, 2007 version 3.3)" "Iris recognition system (See 3.13, 2007 edition of 3.5) "Iris identification data (see 3.9, 2007 edition 3.17)" "candidates (see 3.16, 2007) Definition of version 3.18)";

--- Change the term "characteristic sequence" to "iris feature" (see 3.4, 2007 version 3.14), "user registration" to "iris registration" (See 3.5, 2007 version 3.10), "template feature sequence" is changed to "registered iris feature" (see 3.6, 2007 edition) 3.15), "sample feature sequence" is changed to "sample iris feature" (see 3.7, 2007 version 3.16), "iris feature sequence data" "Library" was changed to "Iris Feature Database" (see 3.8, 2007 version 3.19) "User Identification" was changed to "Iris Recognition" (see 3.10, 3.12 of the 2007 edition, "User Confirmation" was changed to "Iris Validation" (see 3.11, 3.13 of the 2007 edition);

--- Modified the hierarchical technical requirements, from the third level to the basic level and enhanced level (see Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 6 of the 2007 edition);

--- Removed self-contained in the basic functional requirements (see 4.1 of 2007);

--- Added iris registration and user identification to provide single- and dual-eye, optional eye registration and recognition strategies, which may affect the iris The case of iris, iris verification and iris identification should have the corresponding management strategy for intervention requirements (see 6.1.3, 6.1.4);

--- Removed two image requirements and four image requirements in iris registration and user identification (see 4.2.2, 4.4.3, 2007) 4.5.2, 4.5.3);

--- Increased the requirement for privileged users to identify their identity and obtain relevant operational rights in the manner of iris recognition (see 6.1.4, 6.2.4);

--- Revised the anti-counterfeiting iris forged in anti-counterfeiting to prevent false eye forgery, and increased anti-trapping forgery and bio-forgery (see 6.2.6, 4.7) of the 2007 edition;

--- Increased iris image quality as a basic performance factor (see 7.1.1, 7.2.1);

--- Revised the performance indicators of each technical level, and increased the corresponding sample size (see 7.1.2, 7.2.2, 2007 version 5.1, 6.1.2.1, 6.2.2.1, 6.3.2.1);

--- Change the "Scope of Application" to "Application Scenario", and add the application scenario, delete for local users and remote users, generally Content of iris recognition by households and privileged users (see 7.1.4, 7.2.4, 5.3 of 2007 edition);

--- Added specific provisions for the use of non-invasive lighting (see 7.1.5, 7.2.5);

--- Removed the "Environmental Security" content of the security function (see 6.1.3.1.1, 6.2.3.1.1, 6.3.3.1.1 of the 2007 version);

--- Amend the "self-safety assurance requirements" to "safety assurance requirements" (see Chapter 9, 6.14, 6.2.4, 6.3.4 of the 2007 edition);

--- Removed the requirement to identify failures based on the number of failures (see 6.1.1.6, 6.2.1.6, 6.3.1.6 of the 2007 edition);

--- Removed the relevant content of saving user iris images and facial photos (see 6.3.1.4, A.1.3 of 2007 edition);

The image generated by the human iris is captured by a dedicated iris acquisition module.

3.4 Iris feature

By characterizing the iris image, unique feature data for distinguishing the individual is generated.

3.5 Iris registration
