GB/T 20899.8-2022 is Part 8 of GB/T 20899 and gives the methods for determining sulfur content and available sulfur content in gold ore. It describes three of them: barium sulfate gravimetry, combustion with neutralisation titration, and the determination of available sulfur by combustion with neutralisation titration.

For each method it sets out the principle, the reagents or materials, the instruments and equipment, the sample, the test steps, the processing of the test data, the precision and the test report.

Methods 1 and 3 cover mass fractions of 1.00% to 20.00% and method 2 mass fractions of 0.10% to 20.00%. It cites GB/T 17433 for terminology. It replaces GB/T 20899.8-2007, was issued on 30 December 2022 and has applied since 1 July 2023.

4 Method 1 barium sulfate gravimetric method

4.1 Principle

After the sample is semi-melted by the mixed flux of sodium carbonate, zinc oxide and potassium permanganate at 780°C, the soluble matter is dissolved in water, and the sulfur is converted into sulfate radical for further processing. into the solution, and then use barium chloride to precipitate the sulfate radicals in the solution. sulfur content. In the tested material, less than 10mg of fluorine does not interfere with the determination.

4.2 Reagents or materials

Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and distilled or deionized water or water of equivalent purity were used in the test confirmed to be of analytical grade.

4.2.1 Mixed flux. Mix anhydrous sodium carbonate, zinc oxide and potassium permanganate in a mass ratio of 1.1.0.1, grind finely, and mix well.

4.2.2 Hydrochloric acid, rho=1.19g/mL.

4.2.3 Hydrogen peroxide, phi=30%.

4.2.4 Anhydrous sodium carbonate solution, rho=20g/L.

4.2.5 Barium chloride solution, rho=100g/L. use after filtration.

4.2.6 Silver nitrate solution, rho=10g/L. Add 0.15mL of nitric acid with rho=1.42g/mL to every 100mL silver nitrate solution 0.20mL.

4.2.7 Methyl orange indicator, rho=1g/L.
