Scope

GB/T 20899.7-2022 is the English-translated version of 金矿石化学分析方法 第7部分:铁量的测定.

GB/T 20899.7-2022 is Part 7 of GB/T 20899 and gives the method for determining the iron content of gold ores by potassium dichromate titration, over a mass fraction from 1.00% to 10.00%.

The sample is dissolved in hydrochloric, nitric and sulfuric acid; where copper exceeds 1 mg, iron is precipitated with ammonia and ammonium chloride to separate it from the matrix; most of the iron is then reduced with stannous chloride and the remainder with titanium trichloride, with sodium tungstate as indicator, and the solution is titrated with standard potassium dichromate against sodium diphenylamine sulfonate.

The document lists the reagents, the analysis steps, the calculation, the repeatability and the reproducibility, and cites GB/T 17433. It replaces GB/T 20899.7-2007, was issued on 30 December 2022 and has applied since 1 July 2023.

This document replaces GB/T 20899.7-2007 "Methods for Chemical Analysis of Gold Ore Part 7: Determination of Iron Content", and Compared with GB/T 20899.7-2007, except for structural adjustment and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) The determination method was changed, mercury dichloride was deleted, and it was changed to stannous chloride-titanium trichloride reduction (see 8.3.8, 5.3.3 of the 2007 edition);

b) Increased interference elimination methods (see 8.3.6, 8.3.7);

c) The calculation formula has been changed [see formula (1), formula (2) of the 2007 edition];

d) Delete the requirement of "allowable difference" (see Chapter 7 of the 2007 edition);

e) Increased "repeatability" and "reproducibility" requirements (see Chapter 10).

Introduction
