Scope

GB/T 20899.3-2019 is the English-translated version of 金矿石化学分析方法 第3部分:砷量的测定.

GB/T 20899.3-2019 is Part 3 of GB/T 20899 and gives the methods for determining arsenic in gold ores.

Method 1 is silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometry: the sample is decomposed with acid, arsenic is reduced by arsenic-free zinc in sulfuric acid medium to arsine, which is absorbed in a trichloromethane solution of the silver salt of the copper reagent and measured at 530 nm, over the range 0.050 % to 0.350 %.

Method 2 covers the range 0.15 % to 5.00 %. For each method the part lists the principle, the reagents and materials with their concentrations, the test steps and the repeatability and reproducibility requirements.

It applies to the determination of arsenic in gold ore. It replaces GB/T 20899.3-2007, was issued on 10 December 2019 and has applied since 1 November 2020.

Foreword

GB/T 20899 "Chemical Analysis Methods for Gold Ore" is divided into the following sections:

--- Part 1. Determination of the amount of gold;

--- Part 2. Determination of silver content by flame atomic absorption spectrometry;

--- Part 3. Determination of arsenic content;

--- Part 4. Determination of copper content;

--- Part 5. Determination of lead content;

--- Part 6. Determination of zinc content;

--- Part 7. Determination of iron content;

--- Part 8. Determination of sulfur content;

--- Part 9. Determination of carbon content;

--- Part 10. Determination of the amount of antimony;

--- Part 12. Determination of arsenic, mercury, cadmium, lead and bismuth by atomic fluorescence spectrometry;

--- Part 13. Determination of lead, zinc, bismuth, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, and mercury; inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry;

--- Part 14. Determination of plutonium inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

This part is the third part of GB/T 20899.

This section is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This section replaces GB/T 20899.3-2007 "Chemical analysis methods for gold ores Part 3: Determination of arsenic content".

Compared with GB/T 20899.3-2007, the main technical changes in this section are as follows:

--- Increased "repetitive" and "reproducible" requirements (see 2.7 and 3.6);

--- Removed the "allowable difference" requirement (see 2007 version 2.7 and 3.6);

--- In method 1, ammonium ferric sulfate solution replaces copper sulfate, and the test steps are adjusted (see 2.5.3.3, 2007 version 2.5.3.3);

--- In method 2, standard solution of potassium dichromate replaces iodine, standard solution of ferrous ammonium sulfate replaces sodium arsenite, and sulfuric acid replaces sodium bicarbonate (See 3.4.3.4, 3.4.3.4 of the 2007 version).

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 20899 specifies the method for the determination of arsenic in gold ores.

This section applies to the determination of arsenic in gold ore. Method 1 measurement range: 0.050% ~ 0.350%; method 2 measurement range: 0.15% ~ 5.00%.

2 Method 1: Silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometry

2.1 Principle

The sample was decomposed by acid, and arsenic was reduced by arsenic-free zinc particles in 1.0 mol/L ~ 1.5 mol/L sulfuric acid medium to generate arsenic gas.

Silver dithiocarbamate (hereinafter referred to as copper reagent silver salt) trichloromethane solution absorption. Silver ions in silver salts of copper reagents reduced by arsenide it becomes red colloidal silver. The absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 530 nm of the spectrophotometer.

2.2 Reagents and materials

Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and distilled or deionized or fairly pure water identified as analytically pure were used in the analysis.

2.2.1 Arsenic-free zinc particles.

2.2.2 Potassium Chlorate.

2.2.3 Trichloromethane.

2.2.4 Nitric acid (rho = 1.42g/mL).

2.2.5 Sulfuric acid solution (1 1).

2.2.6 Tartaric acid solution (400g/L).

2.2.7 Potassium iodide solution (300g/L).

2.2.8 Tin dichloride solution (400g/L). Prepared with hydrochloric acid solution (1 1).

2.2.9 Triethanolamine (or triethylamine) trichloromethane solution (3 97).

2.2.10 Ammonium ferric sulfate solution [rho (Fe) = 20g/L]. Weigh 108g [NH4Fe (SO4) 2 · 2H2O], add water and 10mL sulfuric acid (2.2.5) after stirring and dissolving, transfer to a 1000mL volumetric flask, dilute with water to the mark, and shake well.

2.2.11 Copper reagent silver salt trichloromethane solution (2g/L). Weigh 1g of copper reagent silver salt into a 1000mL reagent bottle, add 500mL three ethanolamine trichloromethane solution (2.2.9), stir to dissolve, stand still overnight, and use after filtering. Store in brown reagent bottle.

2.2.12 Arsenic standard solution (1000µg/mL). Certified standard solution.

2.2.13 Arsenic standard solution I (100 µg/mL). Pipette 10.00 mL of arsenic standard solution (2.2.12) into a 100 mL volumetric flask and add 5 mL nitric acid (2.2.4), diluted with water to the mark, and mixed.

2.2.14 Arsenic standard solution II (5 µg/mL). Transfer 5.00 mL of arsenic standard solution I (2.2.13) into a 100 mL volumetric flask, add 5 mL nitric acid (2.2.4), diluted with water to the mark, and mixed.

2.2.15 Lead acetate absorbent cotton. Soak the absorbent cotton in 100mL lead acetate solution (100g/L, containing 1mL glacial acetic acid), remove, and dry after use.
