It gives the scientific name and the classification status of the species and describes its main morphological and structural characteristics, its growth and reproduction characteristics, its cytogenetic characteristics and its molecular genetic characteristics, together with the corresponding detection methods and the rules for judging a result.
The external form described includes the elongated thin shell, the deeply sunken fixed left valve with thick scales and the flatter right valve with ringed corrugated scales and no radial ribs.
It applies to the identification and testing of oyster germplasm, and it cites GB/T 18654.2, GB/T 22213 and GB/T 32757. It replaces GB/T 20552-2006, was issued on 28 December 2023 and has applied since 1 July 2024.
