Scope

GB/T 20501.4-2018 is the English-translated version of 公共信息导向系统 导向要素的设计原则与要求 第4部分:街区导向图.

GB/T 20501.4-2018 sets out how street guidance maps in public information guidance systems are to be designed.

It defines what a street map is made of, establishes its design principles and gives the design requirements for each information element: the map name, the main map, the legend, the index and the overview map, the first three mandatory, the last two optional.

It applies to maps for public walkways on both sides of roads, pedestrian entrances and exits of transport facilities and other areas of several streets with concentrated pedestrian demand.

It draws on GB/T 10001, GB/T 20501.1 and GB/T 20501.3 and gives a design example in an informative annex. Designers of wayfinding systems use it. It replaces GB/T 20501.4-2006, was issued on 15 March 2018 and has applied since 1 October 2018.
