Scope
GB/T 19700-2023 is the English-translated version of 船用热交换器热工性能试验方法.
GB/T 19700-2023 is the Chinese method for measuring the thermal performance of marine heat exchangers. It specifies the test system, the test environment, the test items, the procedures, the data processing and the test report, and it applies to marine coolers, condensers and heaters, while heat exchange elements may refer to it.
It does not apply to units whose medium is toxic, flammable, explosive or highly corrosive, or a cryogenic liquid.
The test system has to hold temperature at each working point within 0.5 °C and flow within 1 %, and the test media are fixed: diesel engine oil of quality grade CC and viscosity grade not below 30 for oil units, clean fresh water for water units and air for gas coolers.
It replaces GB/T 19700-2005, was issued on 17 March 2023 and has applied since 1 October 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 19700-2005 "Test Method for Thermal Performance of Marine Heat Exchangers". Compared with GB/T 19700-2005, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Added quantitative requirements for flow stability in test conditions [see 4.2b)];
b) Changed the test medium requirements (see 4.4, 3.7 of the 2005 edition);
c) The accuracy requirements for measuring instruments have been changed (see 4.5, 3.6 of the 2005 edition);
d) Added test environment requirements such as cleanliness, electromagnetic interference, and grounding in the test room (see 5.3, 5.4);
e) Added specific installation requirements for temperature measuring instruments [see 7.1.1b) and 7.1.1c)];
f) Changed the installation requirements for pressure and flow measuring instruments [see 7.1.1e), 7.1.1f), 7.2.1d), 7.2.1e), 7.3.1d) and 7.3.1e), 6.1.4, 6.1.5, 6.2.4, 6.2.5, 6.3.4 and 6.3.5 of the 2005 edition];
g) Changed the frequency of data collection (see 7.1.2, 6.1.6 of the 2005 edition);
h) Increased test methods for variable working conditions (see 7.1.3, 7.2.3, 7.3.3);
i) Added requirements for drawing performance curves (see 8.5).
1 Scope
This document specifies the test system, test environment, test items, test programs, data processing, test reports, etc.
This document is applicable to thermal performance tests of various heat exchangers such as marine coolers, condensers, heaters, etc. The thermal performance test of heat exchange elements can be used for reference.
This document does not apply to marine heat exchangers with toxic, flammable, explosive, highly corrosive fluids and cryogenic liquids as the medium.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated references For documents, only the version corresponding to the date is applicable to this document; for undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
This document does not have terms and definitions that need to be defined.
4 Test system
4.1 The test system consists of temperature regulating equipment for cold and hot media, flow regulating equipment, temperature, pressure and flow measuring instruments, pumps, pipelines and connecting device, computer processing system, etc.
4.2 The test system should have the function of automatically controlling the temperature and flow of the test medium. When the medium flow and temperature are adjusted to the specified working conditions, the stability afterwards, the test is carried out, and the deviation of temperature and flow rate at each working point during the test process is specified as follows:
a) The temperature deviation should not exceed ±0.5°C;
b) The flow deviation should not exceed ±1%.
4.3 All measuring instruments (pressure gauges, differential pressure gauges, thermometers, flow meters, etc.).
4.4 The test medium is selected as follows:
a) The oil cooler uses diesel engine oil with quality grade CC and viscosity grade not less than 30 in GB 11122-2006 as the oil the unified test medium of the cooler, the test medium of the water cooler is clean fresh water, the test medium of the gas cooler is air, the test medium the cooling medium is all clean fresh water;
b) The oil heater uses diesel engine oil with quality grade CC and viscosity grade not less than 30 in GB 11122-2006 as the oil the uniform test medium of the heater, the test medium of the water heater is clean fresh water, and the test heating medium can be superheated steam (superheated steam
