Scope
GB/T 19590-2023 is the English-translated version of 纳米碳酸钙.
GB/T 19590-2023 is the Chinese national standard for nanoscale calcium carbonate, CaCO3, of relative molecular mass 100.09.
It sets the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for marking and accompanying documents, packaging, transport and storage, and it applies to nanoscale calcium carbonate powder, including ultrafine and some fine grades.
The product has to be a white powder whose particles appear under the electron microscope as cubes, quasi-cubes, rhombohedra, near-spherical, rod-shaped, needle-shaped or chain-shaped, and the indexes of Table 1 are set according to the particle morphology, with magnesium and iron content added.
It cites GB/T 191-2008, GB/T 6678, GB/T 8170, GB/T 19281-2014 and GB/T 19587. It replaces GB/T 19590-2011, was issued on 7 September 2023 and has applied since 1 April 2024.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 19590-2011 "Nano Calcium Carbonate". Compared with GB/T 19590-2011, except for structural adjustment and editing modifications, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Added index requirements determined based on particle morphology (see Table 1);
b) Changed the main content, average particle size, and specific surface area indicators of nano-calcium carbonate (see Table 1, Table 1 of the 2011 version);
c) Added magnesium and iron content indicators and test methods (see Table 1, 6.5, 6.6);
d) The indicators and test methods of grain size and agglomeration index are deleted (see Tables 1, 6.5, and 6.7 of the 2011 version);
e) The average particle size test method has been changed (see 6.2, 6.4 of the 2011 edition).
1 Scope
This document specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and markings for nano-calcium carbonate (including ultrafine calcium carbonate and some fine calcium carbonate) and accompanying documentation, packaging, shipping and storage.
This document applies to nanometer calcium carbonate powder.
Note: This product is mainly used in rubber, plastics, sealants, adhesives, offset inks and coatings, etc.
