Scope
GB/T 19557.6-2022 is the English-translated version of 植物品种特异性(可区别性)、一致性和稳定性测试指南 苎麻.
GB/T 19557.6-2022 gives the guidance used in China to test ramie varieties, Boehmeria nivea L., for distinctness, uniformity and stability.
It covers the conditions the propagating material has to meet, the test method, the way the results are judged, the table of characteristics, the grouping characteristics and the technical questionnaire, and three normative annexes carry the ramie characteristic table, its explanation and the questionnaire.
It defines degummed ramie and fibre fineness, measured as the length of fibre per unit mass in m/g. Against the previous edition five characteristics were dropped, branching force and fibre fineness became mandatory, and leaf base and leaf tip were added.
It cites GB/T 5883, GB/T 19557.1, NY/T 1321, NY/T 1538 and NY/T 2635. It replaces GB/T 19557.6-2004, was issued on 30 December 2022 and has applied since 1 July 2023.

Introduction
In 1997, in order to protect the rights of new plant varieties, encourage the cultivation and use of new plant varieties, and promote the development of agriculture and forestry, my country issued the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of New Varieties of Plants". In 1999, my country joined the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) and became a 39th member. Distinctiveness, uniformity and stability (DUS) are the basic attributes of varieties, and DUS testing is an important basis for granting variety rights. according to. In order to standardize the order of the seed market, in 2015, when the "Seed Law of the People's Republic of China" was revised, the DUS test was used as a variety approval and registration method. Note the preconditions.
For DUS testing of new plant varieties, the testing guidelines are usually developed on the basis of plant genus or species. Due to the wide range of plant classification, different plant genera The phenotypic differences between species are large, and it is difficult to construct a standard for DUS testing for all species. Therefore, GB/T 19557 is divided into several Parts, each part standardizes the test traits and main points of a plant, and is planned to be composed of 33 parts.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 19557.1 apply to this document.
3.1 Sensitivity to short-day sunshine
Ramie begins to reproduce and grow (the appearance is characterized by budding and flowering) to the short-day requirement.
Budding and flowering under long-sun conditions in the middle and late stages of the growth of hemp are insensitivity to short-day sunshine;
Buds and flowering can only be budded and flowered under the short-day conditions of Sanma, which means they are sensitive to short-day sunshine.
3.2 Degummed ramie
Fiber obtained from raw hemp after degumming.
3.3 Fiber fineness
The size of the cross-sectional diameter of fiber cells, the test sample is dry hemp.
Note: The commonly used expression method is: the length of fiber per unit mass, and the unit is m/g (count).
3.4 Red base of raw ramie
The reddish-brown part of the base of wet raw hemp after scraping.
3.5 Group measurement
A batch of plants or a certain organ or part of a plant is measured to obtain a group record.
