Scope

GB/T 19557.31-2018 is the English-translated version of 植物品种特异性、一致性和稳定性测试指南 大麦.

GB/T 19557.31-2018 is the Chinese guideline for testing distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS) of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) varieties. It gives the technical points of the test and the general principles for deciding the results.

The document follows the general DUS guideline GB/T 19557.1 and refers to GB 4404.1 for the quality of cereal seed. It defines the four ways of recording a trait - group measurement, individual measurement, group visual observation and individual visual observation - and the symbols used in the trait tables, such as MG, MS, QL, QN and PQ.

Its contents also cover the propagation material, the test method, the grouping traits, a barley trait table with its explanations and the technical questionnaire that applicants fill in. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 December 2018.
