3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions, as well as those given in GB/T 18890.1-2015 and GB/T 2900.10-2013, apply. For ease of use, some terms and definitions in GB/T 2900.10-2013 are repeated below.
3.1 outdoor termination
Cable termination intended for use in situations where it is exposed to direct sunlight or weather conditions, or both.
[GB/T 2900.10-2013, definition 461-10-14]
3.2 termination with porcelain insulator (Outdoor) cable termination with porcelain bushing as outer insulation.
3.3 termination with composite insulator (Outdoor) cable termination with composite insulator – composed of a glass fiber reinforced epoxy tube as the lining core and a weather-resistant and anti-fouling elastomer material (such as silicone rubber) – as the outer insulation.
3.4 gas-immersed termination for GIS
Cable termination installed inside a gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS) device with sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas as its outer insulation.
3.5 oil-immersed termination
Cable termination installed in the oil tank of an oil-immersed transformer equipment with a liquid insulation part using insulating oil as its external insulation.
3.6 straight joint
3.13 minimum functional pressure
The minimum working pressure of the insulating medium, expressed as relative pressure or absolute pressure (Pa), converted to standard atmospheric conditions (20 °C,
101.3 kPa), greater than or equal to this pressure at which the switchgear and gas- immersed termination for GIS maintain their rated characteristics.
Note: See 3.6.5.5 in GB/T 11022-2011.
4 Service condition
4.1 Rated voltage and conductor operating temperature
The rated voltage, maximum operating temperature and short-circuit temperature of the accessories during normal operation are consistent with the provisions for cables in
Chapter 4 of GB/T 18890.2-2015.
4.2 Environmental conditions (for outdoor termination)
4.2.1 Standard reference atmospheric pressure conditions
The standard reference atmospheric pressure conditions are:
-- temperature, t 0 = 20 °C;
-- pressure, p0 = 101.3 kPa;
-- absolute humidity, h0 = 11 g/m
3
.
The test voltages specified in this Part are all values under standard reference atmospheric pressure conditions.
4.2.2 Normal service conditions
The test voltages specified in this Part are applicable to equipment operating under the following service conditions.
a) The maximum ambient air temperature does not exceed 40 °C;
b) The altitude of the installation site does not exceed 1 000 m.
4.2.3 Temperature correction of test voltage value
For equipment where the ambient air temperature is higher than 40 °C, the test voltage of the external insulation in the dry state shall be the test voltage value specified in this
Part multiplied by the temperature correction factor KT. The temperature correction factor is calculated as formular (1):
Where:
T – ambient air temperature, in degrees Celsius (°C).
4.2.4 Altitude correction of test voltage value
The dielectric strength of the external insulation of outdoor termination used at altitudes above 1 000 m but not exceeding 4 000 m shall be corrected for altitude. The correction method is shown in Appendix B of GB 311.1-2012. For outdoor termination installed and used at an altitude higher than 1 000 m but not exceeding 4 000 m, when tested at an altitude not higher than 1 000 m, the test voltage shall be the test voltage specified in this Part multiplied by the altitude correction factor Ka [calculated as shown in
Formula (2)], and the insulation level of the external insulation of the outdoor termination shall be increased accordingly.
Where:
H – the altitude of the outdoor termination installation location, in meters (m).
4.2.5 Pollution environment
The external insulation environment classification, pollution type and site pollution severity (SPS) grade shall comply with GB/T 26218.1-2010.
4.2.6 Special environmental conditions
Equipment designed for use in special environmental conditions, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, icing and other abnormal conditions, may require certain specific tests. See
GB/T 21429-2008, GB/T 23752-2009 and GB/T 4109-2008. This Part does not provide for these tests.
4.3 Pressure on gas-immersed termination for GIS
The design pressure (relative pressure) of the SF6 gas surrounding the external insulation of the gas-immersed termination for GIS is 0.75 MPa at 20 °C, and the minimum functional pressure shall not exceed 0.25 MPa (relative pressure). The rated inflation pressure of GIS shall not be lower than its minimum functional pressure.
When the GIS enclosure to which the cables are connected is evacuated as part of the
SF6 filling process, the cable terminals shall withstand vacuum conditions (see IEC
62271-209:2007).
4.4 Termination installation angle
The termination shall generally be installed vertically. If the angle between the axis of the terminal and the vertical line exceeds 30°, the bending resistance load specified in
GB/T 4109-2008 shall be met. This requirement does not apply to gas-immersed termination for GIS and transformer termination.
4.5 System category
