GB/T 18889-2026 is the English-translated version of 额定电压6 kV（Um =7.2 kV）至35 kV (Um =40.5 kV)电力电缆附件试验方法.

Accessories for power cables, such as joints and terminations, are critical points in medium-voltage networks, and this recommended national standard sets out the test methods applied to accessories for cables rated from 6 kV up to 35 kV. It is used by accessory manufacturers, independent and in-house high-voltage laboratories, cable system designers, utilities and grid companies that must verify that accessories perform as intended before they are installed.

The document is the test-method companion that laboratories refer to when running type, sample or routine verification of such accessories, and it is useful to export suppliers who need to understand how Chinese practice approaches the testing of cable accessories in this voltage range. It replaces GB/T 18889-2002 and adopts an international standard. It was prepared under the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association and becomes effective on 1 April 2027.
