Foreword
This document conforms to GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".
Drafting is scheduled.
This document is Part 4 of GB/T 1844 "Plastic Symbols and Abbreviations". GB/T 1844 has already published the following parts.
--Part 1: Basic Polymers and Their Characteristic Properties;
--Part 2: Fillers and Reinforcing Materials;
--Part 3: Plasticizers;
--Part 4: Flame retardants.
This document supersedes GB/T 1844.4-2008 "Plastics Symbols and Abbreviations Part 4: Flame Retardants", and is consistent with GB/T 1844.4-Compared to 2008, aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
--The names of the compounds corresponding to the codes 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 51, and 63 have been changed (see Chapter 5, Chapter 5 of the 2008 edition).
--The compounds corresponding to the codes 14, 15, and 76 have been changed (see Chapter 5, Chapter 5 of the 2008 edition).
This document is modified to adopt ISO 1043-4:2021 "Plastics - Symbols and abbreviations - Part 4: Flame retardants".
The technical differences between this document and ISO 1043-4:2021, and the reasons therefor, are as follows.
--The normative reference GB/T 2035 (see Chapter 3) has been added to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability;
--The terminology and definition of flame retardants (see Chapter 3 of ISO 1043-4:2021) have been removed, consistent with the terminology and definition in GB/T 2035.
repeat;
--ISO 1043-1 has been replaced by the normatively referenced GB/T 1844.1, GB/T 1844.2, and GB/T 1844.3.
ISO 1043-2 and ISO 1043-3 (see Chapter 4) are designed to adapt to my country's technical conditions and increase operability.

Introduction
GB/T 1844, "Plastic Symbols and Abbreviations," standardizes the symbols and abbreviations for plastics, unifying the professional terminology used in the plastics industry.
Abbreviations are a standardized way of representing terms related to the field of plastics using symbols.
GB/T 1844 is proposed to consist of four parts.
--Part 1: Basic Polymers and Their Characteristic Properties. The aim is to standardize the abbreviations and compositional properties of basic polymers in plastics.
Symbols for terms and symbols representing the characteristic properties of plastics.
--Part 2: Fillers and Reinforcing Materials. The aim is to standardize the notation for the terms related to fillers and reinforcing materials, wherein only fillers and reinforcing materials are included.
Includes symbols that are already widely used.
--Part 3: Plasticizers. The aim is to standardize the notation for plasticizers, including only those that are already widely used.
The symbols used.
--Part 4: Flame Retardants. The aim is to standardize the notation for flame retardants, including only those that are already widely used.
The symbols used.
The four parts constitute a complete standard system of plastic symbols and abbreviations.
Plastic Symbols and Abbreviations Part 4: Flame Retardants
1 Scope
This document defines a uniform notation for flame retardants in plastic materials.
This document applies to flame retardants added to plastic materials.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 2035 apply to this document.
4 Application of Symbols
The symbol for flame retardants is written as the abbreviation with the capital letters "FR," followed by a suitable two-digit number in Chapter 5.
The symbol is enclosed in parentheses. When the mass content of the flame retardant exceeds 1%, it should be indicated. These symbols are consistent with those in GB/T 1844.1.
The symbols for plastic materials as defined in GB/T 1844.2 and GB/T 1844.3 shall be used together.
