Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 18302-2001 "Basic Requirements for National Flag Raising Devices". Compared with GB/T 18302-2001, the main differences are in the structural design. Aside from integration and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The scope of application has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2001 edition);

b) The terms "single-story building" and "multi-story building" have been removed (see

3.3 of the.2001 edition);

c) The term "conical flagpole" has been added (see 3.2);

d) The flagpole materials have been expanded to include stainless steel, aluminum alloy, metal composite materials, etc. (see 4.1.1);

e) Added colors to the lifting device (see 4.2);

f) Added size configurations for stainless steel flagpoles, aluminum alloy flagpoles, and metal composite material flagpoles (4.4.2.2, 4.4.2.3, 4.2.2.4);

g) Added requirements for tapered flagpoles (see 4.5, Appendix A);

h) The requirement for flagpole systems with automatic timing devices has been added (see 4.6). Please note that some content in this document may involve patents. 1 Scope

GB/T 18302-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the flagpole and its mechanism - the height and proportions, the halyard and hoisting device, the wind loading on pole and flag, the electrical drive where fitted and the lighting for a flag flown at night. It replaces GB/T 18302-2001. It was issued on 28 January 2026 and has been in force since 1 August 2026, replacing GB/T 18302-2001. The document is under the responsibility of the Standardization Administration of China. This document specifies the requirements, packaging, transportation, and storage of national flag raising devices. This document applies to flag-raising devices made of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, and metal composites.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 lifting device The equipment and facilities required for raising a flag include flagpoles, flag crowns, flag stands, and other auxiliary devices.

3.2 tapered flagpole A conical flagpole with a smaller upper diameter and a larger lower diameter, made of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy, and metal composites.

3.3 Square flag flying on square Flags raised in front of squares or buildings.

3.4 Building exterior wall flag flying on a wal A flag that is hung on a part of the exterior wall of a building at a certain angle to the building wall.

3.5 Flags raised on the top of buildings.

3.6 The flag carried in a marching formation.

3.7 indoor standing flag Flags are erected and hung on the floors of offices, meeting rooms, and halls.

3.8 Table runner (flag flying on table) A flag placed on a table.
