Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1:1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted: This document replaces GB/T 16931-1997 "Medical and functional grading standards for athletes with disabilities in winter sports", and GB/T 16931- Compared with:1997, except for structural adjustment and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) Changed the name of the standard to "Winter Sports Athlete Classification with Disabilities";

b) Added "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

c) Changed the classification of disabled alpine skiing events, from "Nordic skiing triathlon" to "cross-country skiing, biathlon" (see Chapter 5, Chapter 6, 4:1, 4:2 of the:1997 edition);

d) Deleted "Sit-skiing and sledding" (see 4:3 of the:1997 edition);

1 Scope

GB/T 16931-2022 is the Chinese national standard on classification of winter para sports athletes, in the field of health care technology. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 21 January 2022 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 21 January 2022.
