Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 16778-1997 "fiber reinforced plastic structural failure analysis procedure in general." This standard and GB/T 16778-1997 compared to the main changes are as follows:

--- Increase the manufacturing process step of analyzing the failure element (see 3.1.2);

--- First, increase the failure determination step of analyzing components (see 3.3.2);

--- Increased fracture retention requirements (see 3.4.1);

--- Modify the determining step of analyzing the failure mode (1997 version 3.6, this version 3.6);

1 Scope

GB/T 16778-2009 is the Chinese national standard on general procedure of failure analysis for fiber reinforced plastic structural products, in the field of rubber and plastic industries. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 25 March 2009 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 January 2010. Classification: ICS 83.120, CCS Q23.
