This section GB 16715 Part 1.

This Part replaces GB 4862-1984 "Chinese melon seed" and GB/T 16715.1-1996 "melon seeds melons." this section compared with GB 4862-1984 and GB/T 16715.1-1996, the main changes are as follows.

--- Clear scope;

--- Revised definitions and terminology;

--- Canceled watermelon hybrid seed quality rating;

--- Modify the quality requirements of diploid watermelon hybrid seeds;

--- Increasing the quality indicators triploid watermelon hybrid seeds;

--- Increasing the quality indicators melon seeds;

--- Increasing the quality index of cucumber seeds;

--- Cancel the packaging, transportation, storage of reference provisions;

--- Revised inspection rules.

1 Scope

GB 16715 of the provisions of this part of the watermelon [Citrulluslanatus (Thunb.) Matsum.etNakai], melon [Cucumis meloL.], melon [Benincasahispida (Thunb.) Cogn.], cucumbers [CucumissativusL.] seed quality requirements, inspection Test methods and inspection rules.

This Part applies to the production of People's Republic of China, said sales of melon seeds including capsuled seeds and non-coated seeds.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this part of GB 16715.

Stock basicseed

Breeder seed multiplication with the first generation to the third generation, seeds and confirmed to meet the specified quality requirements.

Field with the kind qualifiedseed with the original breeder of the first generation to the third generation or hybrid seeds, seeds and confirmed to meet the specified quality requirements.

Triploid species triploidseed Tetraploid and diploid as male as female hybridization produced seeds.

4 Quality requirements

4.1 General

Seed quality requirements by the quality indicators and quality stated values. The quality indexes include purity, clarity, germination rate and moisture; quality standards

NOTE value should be true, and in accordance with the provisions of 4.2.

4.2 Quality Standards

4.2.1 Watermelon

Watermelon seeds shall meet the minimum requirements in Table 1.

Note 1. The triploid hybrid watermelon seed germination tests usually require pre-treatment.

Note 2. The sales of diploid watermelon hybrids may not be specifically labeled diploid, triploid watermelon hybrid sales need specific labeling.

4.2.2 Melon

Melon seeds shall meet the minimum requirements of Table 2, where the melon seeds shall meet the minimum requirements in Table 3.

NOTE. The cantaloupe is a melon. This table referring produced in northwest China, the type of crop seed labeled cantaloupe.

4.2.3 Melon

Melon seeds shall meet the minimum requirements in Table 4.

4.2.4 Cucumber

5 Test methods

Clarity analysis, germination test, moisture determination, authenticity and varietal purity testing should implement the provisions of GB/T 3543's.

6 Inspection rules

6.1 for sampling

OK for sampling methods and seed lot shall implement the provisions of GB/T 3543's.

6.2 Quality judgment rules

Quality judgment rules shall implement the provisions of GB 20464.
