3 Terms and definitions

Foreword

This standard is a consolidated revision of four standards: GB/T 15014-1994, Terms and definitions of physical characteristics and physical quantities in the field of elastic alloys; GB/T 15015-1994, Terms and definitions of physical characteristics and physical quantities in the field of expansion alloys; GB/T 15016-1994, Terms and definitions of physical characteristics and physical quantities in the field of thermostat bimetals; and GB/T 15017-1994, Terms and definitions of physical characteristics and physical quantities in the field of resistance alloys.

This standard replaces GB/T 15014-1994, GB/T 15015-1994, GB/T 15016-1994 and GB/T 15017-1994.

Compared with GB/T 15014-1994, GB/T 15015-1994, GB/T 15016-1994 and GB/T 15017-1994, the main changes are as follows:

— the title of the standard has been changed to "Physical quantity terminologies and definitions of elastic alloy, expansion alloy, thermostat metal, resistance alloy";

— "Classification" has been added;

— a "Chinese index" and an "English index" have been added;

— in the elastic alloy part, the definitions of "static hysteresis, viscosity, relaxation spectrum, elastic ratio, stiffness constant, compliance constant" and the "broad definition of Poisson's ratio" have been deleted; the definitions of "elastic alloy" and "high elasticity" have been added, and the definition of "plasticity" has been moved to the mechanical properties;

— in the expansion alloy part, the definition of "expansion alloy" has been added;

— in the thermostat bimetal part, the definition of "thermostat bimetal" has been revised, and the definitions of "passive layer of thermostat bimetal, active layer of thermostat bimetal, side-by-side bimetal" have been added;

— in the resistance alloy part, the definition of "electrical conductivity" has been reconfirmed, and the definition of "resistance per metre" has been added;

— in the mechanical properties part, the definition of "yield point" has been deleted, and the definitions of "mechanical properties, upper yield strength, lower yield strength, maximum force" have been added;

— the definitions of all terms have been reconfirmed and the wording of some terms has been amended;

— the units of the physical quantities have been aligned with the corresponding current national standards and the International System of Units.

This standard was proposed by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Steel of Standardization Administration of China.
