Scope

GB/T 14901-2008 is the English-translated version of 玻璃密度测定 沉浮比较法.

GB/T 14901-2008 is the Chinese national standard on test method for density of glass - method of the sink-float comparison, in the field of glass and ceramics industries. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 27 December 2008 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 September 2009. Classification: ICS 81.040, CCS Q33. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the issuing body are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are in the document itself, which is delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 14901-1994 "glass density determination ups and downs of Comparative Law." Compared with the standard GB/T 14901-1994 The main changes are as follows:

--- Reagent section made editorial changes (the 1994 edition of Chapter 5, Section 4 of this edition), methylene iodide to methylene iodide;

--- Instrument part made editorial changes (1994 edition, Chapter 4, Chapter 5 of this edition);

--- Reference standard sample and the sample position made changes (1994 Edition Chapter 6, edition 4.4). Appendix A of this standard is a normative appendix. The standard proposed by China Building Materials Federation. This standard by the National Standardization Technical Committee of architectural glass (SAT/T C255) centralized. This standard is drafted by: Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Research and Design Institute. The main drafters of this standard. tube Shifeng, Liu Fu, Luwan Shun, Han Ying, TAN Xiao arrows. 1 Scope

The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are in the document itself, which is delivered complete in English translation.

This standard specifies the determination of the density of the glass with the ups and downs of comparative law instruments, measurement procedures and the results of calculations. This standard applies to the determination of the density of the glass 1.1g/cm3 ~ 3.3g/cm3 or other non-porous solid density can also be used to determine the Ceramic or apparent density solid known porosity.

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this standard and become the standard terms. For dated references, subsequent Amendments (not including errata content) or revisions do not apply to this standard, however, encourage the parties to the agreement are based on research Whether the latest versions of these documents. GB/T 2540 Petroleum products - Determination of density (pycnometer method) Principle

3 Since the thermal expansion coefficient of the standard density of the solution is much greater than the thermal expansion coefficient of the glass case, so the density of the density of the solution at elevated temperatures Value decreased much more than glass reference standards and the density value of the glass sample. At room temperature 20 °C ± 3 °C, density greater than the density of the solution in a glass Standard reference density and glass samples, therefore, reference standard glass and glass samples floating on the density of the solution. Then three simultaneous rise Temperature and density of the solution when the density falls below standard sample and the sample density, at different temperatures, standards and samples were settling, according to the Shen Lower temperature, calculate the density of glass samples. Glass reference standard at 30 °C 1) when the density of the solution prepared in the settlement, glass samples at 20 °C ~ In the range of 40 °C settlement, therefore, can be measured with a standard deviation for the density of the sample ± 0.0200g/cm3 or less. 1) In order to facilitate rapid determination of the glass sample density glass, glass reference standards sedimentation temperature may be set in the range of 25 °C ~ 35 °C.

4 Reagents and materials

4.1 Reagents Density of the solution formulated reagents should be of analytical grade or pure class distinctions. The reagents used are the following.

a) isopropyl salicylate, 30 °C when the density of 1.10g/cm3;

b) alpha- bromonaphthalene, 30 °C when the density of 1.48g/cm3;

c) symmetry - Tetrabromoethane, 30 °C when the density of 2.96g/cm3;

d) diiodomethane, 30 °C when the density of 3.32g/cm3.

Note. Due to methylene iodide, alpha- bromonaphthalene and symmetry - Tetrabromoethane having photosensitivity, it should be kept in a light-shielding container. Density of the solution should be prepared on the light-shielding container Saved. Diiodomethane put a piece of copper wire to slow decomposition of methylene iodide. Preparation

4.2 density of the solution Choice of two

4.1 reagent preparation solution density, volume density values \u200b\u200bof the two agents need to be formulated with the density of the solution varies. The volume of each reagent required, by the following equation. s = rho1 rhos Vp Vp Vp 1 + rho2 2 (1) S = 1 + Vp Vp Vp 2 (2) rhos = rho Vp
