GB/T 14646-2025 is the English-translated version of 轿车翻新轮胎.

GB/T 14646-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering retreading a car tyre — the rule that a casing is retreaded once and not again, the conditions that exclude it, among them an age over five years and a speed symbol of L or below, the inflation pressure for inspection before and after, the low pressure test added in this edition, and the marking of the finished tyre, which is what tells a buyer what he is fitting. It replaces GB/T 14646-2007, with the truck and bus standard GB/T 7037-2025. Under the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. In force from 1 August 2025. Issued on 24 January 2025, it has been in force since 1 August 2025, replacing GB/T 14646-2007.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting is required.

This document replaces GB/T 14646-2007 "Passenger car retread tires". Compared with GB/T 14646-2007, except for structural adjustments and editing In addition to the changes in performance, the main technical changes are as follows.

— Added some provisions for carcass sidewall marking for retreading (see 4.1.2);

— Changed some requirements that should not be applied to retreaded tires (see 4.1.3, 4.1.3 of the 2007 edition);

— Deleted the relevant requirements for retread carcass with perforation damage (see 4.1.4 of the 2007 edition);

— Changed the relevant provisions on the inflation pressure of the carcass for inspection before and after retreading (see 4.2.2 and 4.3.1, 4.2.2 and 4.3.1 of the 2007 edition) 4.3.1);

— Changed the outer edge size requirements after renovation (see 4.5, 4.5 of the 2007 edition);

— Added low pressure test for retreaded tires (see 5.5);

— Changed the relevant provisions on the markings that should be on retreaded tires (see 6.2, 6.2 of the 2007 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods and markings for retreaded passenger car tyres.

This document applies to the retreading of pneumatic passenger car tyres.

4 Technical requirements

4.1 Tire selection

4.1.1 A tyre that has been retreaded should not be retreaded again.

4.1.2 For retreaded tires, the sidewall markings shall include the following.

— Tire specifications;

— Speed symbol (or maximum driving speed);

— Load index (or maximum load capacity or level);

— “CCC” and other certification marks.

4.1.3 Tyres that meet any of the following conditions shall not be used for retreading.

— Production date exceeds 5 years;

— Speed symbol is less than or equal to L (120km/h);

— Obvious damage due to overload or lack of air;

— Carcass rupture or abnormal deformation;

— The tire bead is broken or damaged;

— Obvious corrosion by oil, chemicals or water;

— The tread is polished and the cord is exposed;
