Scope

GB/T 14625.4-2008 is the English-translated version of 篮球、足球、排球、手球试验方法第4部分：试验条件与试样准备.

GB/T 14625.4-2008 is the fourth part of the Chinese national test methods for basketballs, footballs, volleyballs and handballs, and it fixes the conditions under which the other parts are run and how the balls are prepared for them.

It classifies the balls by covering material into leather, artificial or synthetic leather and rubber, by use into match balls and balls for everyday play, and by size number for each sport and age group.

It calls for a barometer of accuracy class 1.5 reading 0 to 0.16 MPa, and a pump. Tests are run at 23 °C ± 2 °C and 55 % ± 5 % humidity, with the ball inflated to the pressure tabulated for its type and left 30 min before testing.

It replaces GB/T 14625.4-1995, was issued on 30 December 2008 and has applied since 1 September 2009.

Foreword

GB/T 14625 "Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Handball Test Method" is divided into five parts.

---Part 1. Determination of roundness;

--- Part 2. Determination of the rebound height;

---Part 3. Dynamic impact test method;

--- Part 4. Test conditions and sample preparation;

--- Part 5. Measurement of circumference length and circumference difference.

This part is the fourth part of GB/T 14625.

This section refers to the FIBA "Basketball Competition Rules", FIFA "Football Competition Rules", and the International Volleyball "Volleyball Competition Rules" Formulated.

This part replaces GB/T 14625.4-1995 "Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Handball Test Methods Test Conditions and Sample Preparation".

The main changes in this section compared with GB/T 14625.4-1995 are as follows.

a) adjust the scope of application of the standard;

b) increase the "product classification" and adjust the classification of basketball;

c) adjusted the "test conditions";

d) adjusted the "pressure inside the sample" requirements;

e) Increase the "rubber ball" requirement.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 14625 specifies the test conditions and sample preparation for basketball, football, volleyball, and handball performance tests.

This section applies to basketball, football, volleyball, and handball for competitions and daily activities.

2 Product categories

2.1 By surface material

2.1.1 Class A. Leather ball.

2.1.2 Class B. artificial leather, synthetic leather, recycled leather ball.

2.1.3 Class C. Rubber ball.

2.2 By purpose

2.2.1 Competition ball (level 1).

2.2.2 Competition ball (secondary).

2.2.3 Ball for daily activities.

2.3 According to the circumference of the crowd and the ball

2.3.1 Men's Adult Basketball (No. 7), Women's Adult Basketball (No. 6), Junior Basketball (No. 5), Children's Basketball (No. 3).

2.3.2 Adult Football (No. 5), Junior Football (No. 4), Children's Football (No. 3).

2.3.3 Adult volleyball (No. 5), Junior Volleyball (No. 4), Children's Volleyball (No. 3).

2.3.4 Men's handball (No. 4) and women's handball (No. 3).

3 Devices

3.1 Barometer, accuracy 1.5, range 0 ~ 0.16MPa, minimum scale 0.0025MPa.

3.2 Air pump.

4 Test conditions

Temperature. 23 °C ± 2 °C, humidity. 55% ± 5%.

5 Sample preparation

5.1 Inflate and pressurize the sample. The pressure inside the sample shall comply with the requirements of Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 and Table 4.

5.2 After the sample is inflated and pressurized, it is placed for 30 minutes and then tested.

6 Test report

The test report should contain the following.

a) the number of this part;

b) sample name, number, type, manufacturer (or trademark), date of manufacture;

c) test conditions;

d) the pressure inside the ball;

e) Tester, date.
