Scope
GB/T 14506.13-2010 is the English-translated version of 硅酸盐岩石化学分析方法 第13部分:硫量测定.
GB/T 14506.13-2010 is part 13 of the Chinese series on the chemical analysis of silicate rocks and gives the method for the sulfur content.
The sample is mixed with copper oxide wire and burnt in a stream of oxygen in a tube furnace at 1250 °C to 1350 °C, so that sulfur in every form leaves as sulfur dioxide; the gas is absorbed in dilute hydrochloric acid containing a starch indicator and titrated with a potassium iodate standard solution.
The part lists the reagents and their concentrations and the preparation and calibration of the two potassium iodate titration solutions. It applies to silicate rocks and also to soil and stream sediments, for sulfur contents from 0.01% to 1%.
It replaces GB/T 14506.13-1993, was issued on 10 November 2010 and has applied since 1 February 2011.

GB/T 14506.1 Silicate rocks - Part 1: Determination of water adsorption
3 Principle
Sample is mixed with copper oxide high-temperature tube furnace (1250 °C ~ 1350 °C) burning in an oxygen stream, so that various forms of sulfur conversion into two Sulfur dioxide gas to escape, absorb with dilute hydrochloric acid solution containing starch indicator, standard titration solution containing potassium iodate titration of potassium iodide, the count Operators sulfur content.
4 Reagents
Unless otherwise stated in this section are consistent with the use of analytical reagent and GB/T 6682 analytical laboratory use in the analysis.
4.1 Sodium hydroxide.
4.2 Sulfate (rho1.84g/mL). Warning --- improper dilution risk prone.
