Foreword

This standard replaces GB/T 14080-1993 "Winchester disk drive small heads General technical requirements." This standard and GB/T 14080-1993 main difference is as follows.

--- GB/T 14080-1993 only for the head arm assembly to expand the scope of this standard to the head stack assembly.

--- Standard title amended to "hard disk drive head stack assembly general specification."

--- The magnetic storage technology, rewrite the "requirements" and "Test Method."

--- Updated "inspection rules" and "signs, packaging, transportation and storage."

--- Added "Appendix A slider geometry is defined."

--- Added "Appendix B Electrostatic sensitivity tests."

Appendix A of this standard is informative annex, Annex B is normative appendix.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements of the hard disk drive head stack assembly, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and so on.

This standard applies to GB/T 12628-2008 of 63.5mm (2.5in) and 90mm (3.5in) hard disk drive head stack Components. Other dimensions of the head stack assembly (hereinafter referred to as the product) may refer to this standard.
