Scope
GB/T 12973-2013 is the English-translated version of 换向器与集电环尺寸.
GB/T 12973-2013 specifies the preferred nominal dimensions of commutators and slip-rings for rotating electrical machines.
It fixes the nominal outside diameter of finished commutators (5 mm to 3150 mm), the height of the raw material for trapezoidal commutator segments (10 mm to 200 mm) and the nominal outside diameter of finished slip-rings (5 mm to 2500 mm), all to be selected from the R20 preferred number series, with intermediate values taken from the R40 series.
It replaces GB/T 12973-1991; the main technical change is that R40 intermediate values for commutator diameters are now permitted below 250 mm instead of below 50 mm.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 12973-1991, Dimensions for commutators and slip-rings. Compared with GB/T 12973-1991, apart from editorial changes, the main technical change is as follows:
- "for outside diameters smaller than 50 mm" has been changed to "for outside diameters smaller than 250 mm" (see 2.1 of this standard; Clause 2 of the 1991 edition).
This standard was proposed by the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Rotating Electrical Machines of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 26).
