Cloudy water can foul heat-transfer surfaces and signal problems in treatment systems, so turbidity is routinely monitored in the water used in boilers and cooling circuits. This standard describes how to determine turbidity in such water by spectrophotometry. It belongs to the family of analysis methods for boiler water and cooling water and is aimed at power plant chemists, industrial water-treatment staff, environmental and process laboratories, and service companies that monitor water quality for utilities and factories.
